NYPD SAINT GEORGE ASSOCIATION
We aim to spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout the New York Police Dept. and all of Law Enforcement.
Formed in 1937 by NYPD Chaplain A. Hamilton Nesbitt who for years had a dream of uniting the Protestant police officers of the NYPD into an organization tasked with serving them spiritually, socially & professionally. After consultation with the NYC Police Commissioner and encouragement of several other officials, Chaplain Nesbitt founded the St. George Association of the NYPD.
Police Officers have the greatest drain of any workforce in America. In the course of our duties we are subjected to all things. We frequently stand in danger of physical injury and death. The St. George Assoc. encourages its members to live their faith both on and off-duty thus embodying what St. Paul wrote “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” - Colossians 3:17.
Ever since its founding, the organization has grown to include civilian members of the NYPD and Law Enforcement Officers from other government agencies.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another - John 13:34
